» Croatian ski representatives in training on Sljeme
Janica Kostelic and other A-team skiers including Matea Ferk, a B-team skier, were in training on Sljeme’s Red Cross course today evening.

» Results of the downhill training
Today in Santa Caterina a downhill practice took place before the two FIS World Cup downhill events on Thursday and Friday. Janica Kostelic finished 8th today, which is definitely a great result.
» Ivica second in FIS slalom
FIS slalom event took place today in Kreischberg in Austria. Croatia had 5 participants total.

After the race today Janica Kostelic said she was extremely pleased with her 7th place.
» Excellent 7th place for Janica in Santa Caterina
Janica Kostelic captured an excellent 7th place in the first downhill of the New Year raced on the newly designed "Deborah Compagnoni" course of Santa Caterina. The skier from Zagreb only lost 87/100 of a second on Austria's double World champion Michaela Dorfmeister and missed her first downhill podium by only 34/100!

Janica Kostelic was very excited and happy after the race today, achieving the best downhill result of her career!

Janica Kostelic achieved her best performance ever in a World Cup downhill in finishing 5th in Santa Caterina, only half a second behind the winner, France's Ingrid Jacquemod. Two years ago, she was 6th in Lenzerheide and 7th yesterday.

Starting numbers for tomorrow's ladies' FIS giant slalom event in Santa Caterina have been drawn.

After a few days of great trainings in Innerkrems, Ivica Kostelic arrived in Chamonix (FRA) yesterday evening where a FIS World Cup slalom race is scheduled for tomorrow.

After achieving two great performances in downhill, Janica Kostelic had to be content with a far 22nd place today in Santa Caterina on the demanding giant slalom race set on the lower part of the "Deborah Compagnoni" course.

Janica Kostelic finished 22nd in today’s FIS World Cup giant slalom race. After the race she admitted that she expected a better result but, as she explained, “it just wasn’t her day”.

» Janica Kostelic fails to qualify for the second run
Janica Kostelic, unfortunately, did not finish the race today. She crashed out in the upper part of the slope in the first run. After the race she said she felt slight pain in her knee just before the crash so she did not try to regain her balance.
» Nika and Ana 16th and 22nd, respectively
After the race Nika Fleiss was furious on herself because she was unable to repeat her excellent first run. Ana Jelusic said that after the examination of the second run she concluded the track was more open and that suits larger girls better.
» Ivica Kostelic excellent 2nd in Chamonix's first slalom run
Ivica Kostelic seems to have found back a great part of his form this month: after reaching for the first time the top-10 in Flachau a few weeks ago, the reigning World Champion clocked a superb 2nd best time this morning on the treacherous slalom course in Chamonix.

Ivica Kostelic achieved his best slalom race this season in finishing 5th in Chamonix in the competition dominated by Italy's Giorgio Rocca. Kostelic clocked the 2nd fastest time in the first leg but missed the podium by 21/100 of a second in the afternoon after a slower second run. Austria's Benjamin Raich came in 2nd, Markus Larsson from Sweden 3rd and Kalle Palander 4th.

Marko Grilc finished 9th in the second World Cup Big air event this season, held in Moscow. The competition was held on the improvised jump made up of construction slabs in Moscow exibition park.

» Nika goes home to cure cold
Nike Fleiss returned to Samobor to cure heavy cold. The next few days she will spend resting before she continues with her practices and preparations for the "Golden bear" event on Sljeme.
» Ivica did not qualify for the second run
Ivica Kostelic, unfortunately, failed to qualify for the second run of the FIS World Cup giant slalom race in Adelboden (SUI).
» Our skiers successful in FIS giant slalom
Ana Jelusic and Matea Ferk took place in FIS giant slalom race in Garmisch (GER) and achieved good results.
» Janica practices downhill
On today's official downhill practice Janica finished 16th with time 1:39.72. After the practice Janica was satisfied and said this was a bit slower slope than the one in Santa Caterina, and that the race is completely different thing than practice.

Janica Kostelic finished 13th in today's FIS World Cup Super G event in Cortina d'Ampezzo (ITA).

» Janica second in the downhill practice
Second official downhill practice was held today in Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy. After the 16th place in the first practice, and 13th in the event yesterday, Janica did fenomenally today and lost only 0.33 seconds to Lindsey Kildow (USA).
» Sljeme fully prepared for coming race
At today’s press conference in Zagreb the Croatian Ski Association (HSS) and the Golden Bear Race Organizing Committee informed the media of the final preparations for the women FIS World Cup slalom race, which will take place on January 20, 2005 at Sljeme, the highest peak of the Medvednica hill.
» Ivica wins in FIS slalom event
FIS slalom event was held today in Adelboden in Switzerland. Ivica Kostelic finished first in the fierce competition made up of prominent skiers like Alois Vogl, Jean-Pierre Vidal, Thomas Grandi, Erik Schlopy and Hans-Petter Buraas.

Personal best result for Janica in downhill - second place
Janica Kostelic clinched fenomenal second place in today's downhill event of the World Cup held in Cortina d'Ampezzo. That was the best result of her career in downhill! With the points won today Janica took over the lead in the overall World Cup standings. The winner of the event was Renate Goetschl, who is now also ahead of Tanja Poutiainen and Anja Paerson.

After the race Janica was extremely happy even though she is no longer leading the overall World Cup standings (trailing by 9 points). Janica said the end of the season is still far and only thing she needs is a good rest before the event in Zagreb.

Janica Kostelic missed by only 3/100 of a second her second consecutive podium in downhill in the fourth and last speed race held today on the Olimpia-Tofana course at Cortina d'Ampezzo. She came in 4th in that last Italian competition, just behind Germany's specialist Hilde Gerg.

Swiss ski resort Wengen is definitely Ivica's favourite place, as he managed another great performance there and reached the podium!

After weeks of struggling and doubts, Ivica Kostelic reached his first podium of the season in Wengen where he came in 2nd in the slalom won by his friend and training partner Alois Vogl.

» Results of the first run on Sljeme
The first run of the FIS World Cup “Golden Bear” race brought us some suprises. Janica Kostelic gave up the race but Ana Jelusic and Nika Fleiss made excellent results.
» A big disappointment for Janica Kostelic.
It's quite a nightmare which happened for Janica Kostelic who straddled a gate in the upper part of the demanding Sljeme World Cup slalom perfectly organized in front of a huge crowed.
» Second run of the FIS «Golden bear» begins at 18:00
Course Setter for the second run will be Bernd Brunner from Austria and the forerunners will be Tin Široki, Ivan Olivari i Natko Zrnčić-Dim. Second run start list has also been made public.
» Another win for Tanja Poutiainen in Croatia.
Zagreb/Sljeme, Jan.20th - Finland's Tanja Poutiainen won her season's fourth World Cup race on Zagreb's skiing playground, a 1000-meter-high hill named Sljeme where the first ever Croatian World Cup competition took place Thursday afternoon in front of more than 20'000 excited spectators.

Another famous victim of the treacherous first run was Sweden's Anja Paerson, who skied out in the upper part of the course. She lost much time on the favorites after moving-up to correctly pass all missed gates.
» 8th podium for Poutiainen
Poutiainen, a solid 3rd after the first run, was off the pace in the first part of her second leg but made-up time on the last section of the floodlit course. "It was a perfect way for me to come back after taking a nice break at home," she said after the race. "On the first
run I made a few mistakes and I didn't ski as well as I wanted," Tanja added.
» Kristina Koznick was happy too
Kristina Koznick lost in the final part the chance to win her first race of the season. She reached her third podium of the winter. "I skied really well during most of my second leg," she said. "I definitely went for it. I'm more than consistent this winter. I was skiing this way coming into the season. I had some troubles in December with my rib I injured in falling in St Moritz, but I'm feeling completely back."
» Janica was sad
During the crowded press conference, Janica Kostelic came by to congratulate the winners and hug them. The triple Olympic Champion, who missed last season because of knee injuries and surgery to remove her thyroid gland, was very disappointed by her misfortune.
» A great result for Nika and Ana
Finland's Tanja Poutiainen was the winner of today's FIS slalom race «Golden Bear» held on Zagreb's hill Sljeme. Her overall time was 1:50.71, in other words, she was 0.07 seconds better than Kristina Koznic (USA) who finished 2nd.

FIS World Cup giant slalom event will be held tomorrow in Maribor (SLO). Starting numbers for the race have been drawn today.

» Janica 21st in giant slalom
FIS World Cup ladies' giant slalom event was held today in Maribor (SLO). The slope in Maribor is traditionally not suited for our skiers, so Janica finished 21st, and Ana Jelusic did not qualify for the second run.
» 21st place for Janica Kostelic
Janica Kostelic only captured a distant 21st place in the last giant slalom raced prior the World Championships in Slovenia's Maribor. She lost much time on the winner, Tina Maze - almost three seconds! Just a day to forget for her!

After two disappointing races in a row in Santa Caterina and Zagreb, Janica Kostelic reached another podium in Maribor where she came in 2nd, in between the two best slalom specialists of the season, Anja Paerson and Tanja Poutiainen. The last time they meet on the podium was in Aspen after the first slalom.

Ivica Kostelic reached for the 13th time a World Cup podium in slalom as he finished 3rd in Kitzbühel in the race won by Austria's Manfred Pranger.

» Janica from Adriatic coast to the World Championships
Janica Kostelic will return today from Novi Vinodolski shortly to Zagreb, and will leave for Bad Ragaz (SUI) to visit dr. Ralph Hochmeister and to receive another injection of genetically multiplied cartillage cells. After that she will continue to Bormio where she will train and prepare for the oncoming FIS World Championships in alpine skiing.
» Ivica in Novi Vinodolski
In the race yesterday Ivica unfortunately failed to achieve the result he wanted. His run was excellent, but he hit the gates just before the finishing line and slightly injured his knee.

» Big success by our young nordic skiers
In the 22nd Trofeo Topolino held this weekend in Castello di Fiemme in Italy our nordic skiers won 4 medals. The team from Primorsko-goranska county finished 2nd overall.

» Janica arrives in Bormio
Janica is currently in Bormio where she is practicing with her team for the oncoming World Championships in alpine skiing, where she will participate in downhill, combined, giant slalom and slalom.
» Ivica in Zagreb, his knee is fine
After a few days of rehab in Novi Vinodolski and Terme Selce courtesy of dr. Vlasta Brozicevic, Ivica arrived to Zagreb yesterday. He suffered a slight pain in his knee after his crash out in Schladming.

After the races on Sljeme the following members of the Croatian alpine ski B team qualified for the World Championships in Bormio: Natko Zrncic-Dim, Dalibor Samsal, Danko Marinelli and Ivan Ratkic.
» Ivica in Bad Ragaz
Ivica travelled today to Bad Ragaz to receive another injection of genetically multiplied cartillage cells after which he will be able to continue his trainings and practices for the World Championships.
» First official ladies downhill practice
First official ladies downhill practice took place today in Santa Caterina in Italy. As usual, Janica Kostelic just focused on examining the slope.
