Nika Fleiss, Ana Jelusic and Matea Ferk have adjusted to the American weather conditions and have started their training in Loveland, CO, because their first races this season are expected to start very soon.

Ivica Kostelic has adjusted well to the American weather conditions and has started training. He had a day-off today but will continue with slalom and Super-G training tomorrow.

After five days of technical training in Loveland, Janica Kostelic had a day-off. She will continue with training on Thursday when she will also start practicing Super-G.

Janica Kostelic stepped on the fourth gate in the first run and thought she missed it, so she receded in order not to be disqualified.

» Ivica 4th in FIS slalom
Ivica had his first appearance in a slalom event after the race in Schladming in the last season. He performed well and ended up fourth today in Breckenridge.
» Nika qualified for the Aspen giant slalom
Today’s internal qualifying race of the Croatian ladies’ alpine ski team in Loveland featured Nika Fleiss and Ana Jelusic.

Ivica said after the race he is not satisfied and believes he can do better. However, he has 10 more days until the beginning of the World Cup, and enough time to prepare himself.

This evening in Aspen (USA) ladies will race in the second giant slalom event this season. First run starts at 18:30 CET, and second at 21:30 CET.
» Janica in the lead!
Janica Kostelic achieved quite an amazing performance this morning in Aspen, Colorado, in clocking the fastest time in the giant slalom raced by very difficult weather and course conditions.
» Janica 3rd!
After the fantastic first run Janica Kostelic performed well again in the second run. However, as she said after the race, she held herself back too much.
» 3rd Giant Slalom podium for Janica Kostelic
Janica Kostelic reached her first podium of the season in Aspen’s demanding Giant Slalom race won by Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen who celebrated her first victory in that specialty in beating by 9/100 of a second Sweden’s Anja Paerson. Janica was 3rd at 15/100 – it’s the third GS World Cup podium for the skier from Zagreb who clearly dominated the first run in which she beat Poutiainen by 60/100. She was still leading the race by 31/100 at the intermediate time of the second run yet she lost part of her momentum as she approached the final part.It’s Janica’s fourth consecutive podium on that hill. She won the slalom here back in November 2000 and she was twice 2nd in Super-G and slalom in November 2002.

This season’s first FIS World Cup slalom race for women will be held today in Aspen, CO.
» Janica finished 2nd in the 1st slalom run
After impressing the World Cup tour with her superb 3rd place in yesterday’s giant slalom, Janica Kostelic confirmed her strong form in clocking the 2nd fastest time in the first slalom run. The double Overall World Cup champion only lost 5/100 of a second on Friday’s winner, Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen while Sweden’s Anja Paerson, the defending Overall World Cup champion was 3rd with a delay of 67/100 on the leader. Austria’s Nicole Hosp was 4th at 71/100 while the two other Croatian athletes, Ana Jelusic and Nika Fleiss ended 17th and 21st. It’s the first time ever that three Croatian skiers qualify for a second slalom run on the World Cup Tour.
» 20th World Cup win for Janica Kostelic
Janica Kostelic achieved another impressive comeback today in Aspen, Colorado, where she celebrated her 20th World Cup victory in winning the first slalom of the season. She beat by an amazing 1,27 seconds Sweden’s Anja Paerson, the leader in the 2005 Overall World Cup standings while Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen, who clocked the fastest time in the first run, came in 3rd at 1,32. At that point, Janica was 2nd with a delay of 5/100.

Starting numbers for the second FIS World Cup ladies' slalom event have been drawn today in Aspen.
» Three Croatian representatives qualified for the 2nd run!
Everybody is eagerly awaiting the 2nd World cup slalom run after Janica finished 1st in the 1st run, while Nika finished 7th and Ana 13th.
» Kostelic in the lead
Wearing the red leader’s bib of the slalom World Cup standings, Janica Kostelic crushed again all her rivals in the first run of the second slalom organized this weekend in Aspen. After a remarkably smooth and controlled run down he treacherous slalom course, she clocked the best time with an advance of 44/100 on Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen and 76/100 on Veronika Zuzulova from Slovakia.
Many favourites struggled on their way down the tough course and the heavy snowfall including Sweden’s Anja Paerson and Austria’s Marlies Schild and Nicole Hops who all skied out.

Janica Kostelic was on her best way to celebrate a second consecutive victory in slalom in Aspen when she crashed out at the middle of her second run.

» Janica on first downhill practice
After 21 months (since Innsbruck) Janica returned to downhill practices on the course in Lake Louise (CAN). After the first run, which served to examine the track, Janica was 51st, 3.45 seconds behind the best time. However, in the lower part of the track she had 14th time!
